DRAWINGS
colored + metallic pencil on paper

Gaby Heit has a passion for paper and drawing on paper. What had originated as consistent small doodles, has over time developed into numerous organic abstract drawings in colored and metallic pencil. She has experimented with different kinds of papers, colored papers and photographs.

As a true typophile, with many years of experience working in print publishing, Gaby has also used antique newspaper as a canvas (The Philadelphia Evening Bulletin, 1871), salvaged pages from a crumbling stack). The newspaper pages have been cut into new square compositions, highlighting new typographic arrangements and contexts, and the drawings intermingle with the vintage printing.

Her current project is an illustrated alphabet, inspired by illuminated manuscript's initial caps, gilded historical texts, fairy tales and surrealism. Images to come!
